According to the Investment Association over £600 million was invested into ethical funds in the first half of 2018. Ethical funds, where money is invested on the basis of environmental and socially responsible practices, have more than trebled in the past decade reaching a total of £16.7 billion in 2018. Younger generations have tended to support more value-based investment funds and 13% of pension savers under 34 would like their money invested ethically. Meanwhile, Norway’s sovereign wealth fund has made moves to reduce investments due to fossil fuel use. With the UK’s ethical investment market expected to reach £48bn by 2027, what impact will it have in supporting the UK’s environmental goals and reshaping business opportunities?

This dinner discussion will:

  • Explore existing ethical investment funds and how these can be developed for consumers
  • Discuss the broader societal impact investment in ethical funds can have in supporting SMEs in emerging market areas
  • Consider how ethical investment fund can be diversified sufficiently to reduce risk to investors.
