The UK creative industries are a global leader, contributing £92bn a year to the British economy and is growing twice as fast as the rest of the economy. The sector deal agreed by the Government aims to consolidate the status of the UK creative industries and has pledged more than £150m to help the sector continue to compete as the UK’s relationship with the EU changes. The creative industries export value already stands at nearly double their share of the economy. Therefore, the question is, how can the sector deal and further initiatives continue to promote the creative industries globally?

This breakfast meeting will:

  • Consider how the Cultural Development Fund could help meet the recommendation in the Bazalgette review to unlock growth potential outside of London and the South East
  • Explore how skills packages can harness the potential of the augmented reality and virtual reality sectors
  • Discuss how the Trade and Investment Board can promote further international opportunities post-Brexit
  • Consider skills and development needs generally.
