The Executive Committee (“ExCom”) is part of IPT’s governance and advisory structure and its members are appointed by the Trustee Board. ExCom has over the years provided a valuable resource of business expertise to the Trustees. The ExCom Chairman is also a Trustee and reports directly to the Board on the ExCom’s activities.
The purpose of the ExCom is to assist the Chief Executive in the performance of the IPT, including development and implementation of strategy, operational plans, policies, procedures and budgets; monitoring of operating and financial performance; prioritisation and allocation of resources.
Rosemary Brook
Chair of the Executive Committee Rosemary Brook is Executive Chairman of The Argyll Consultancies plc and is also a member of IPT's Board of Trustees. She has been actively involved with the IPT for over 20 years, previously chairing its Profile Group. She is an IPT Corporate Fellow and has been a member of the Executive Committee for ten years. In 1993 she was named by "Best of British Women" as one of Britain's top six public relations women. She was President of the Institute of Public Relations in 1996 and Master of the City of London Guild of Public Relations Practitioners in 2004.
Simon Astley
Simon Astley is Director Parliamentary Relations for BAE Systems plc, the largest manufacturing company in the UK, where he is responsible for UK public affairs activity. He has over sixteen years experience in public affairs and corporate communications including blue chip and local and national politics. Prior to joining BAE Systems Simon worked in public affairs for the construction industry. He is a corporate fellow of the Industry and Parliament Trust and a member of the CIPR. Phil Charrett
Phil Charrett is an Inspector in the Health & Safety Executive.He has been involved in raising paper industry standards, managing projects to improve manual handling techniques and examining health aspects in the UK semi-conductor industry.He was previously the lead in the Welsh Prison Service and was a member of the National Police Inspection team.In 2005, as Implementation Manager, he was responsible for implementing the national Trainee Inspector programme and recently led on introducing the Executive’s Management Standards on work related stress in the public sector including some leading government departments in Wales. He fully supports the IPT in maintaining and furthering its excellent partnership working. Sharon Davies
Sharon Davies is the Director of Corporate Affairs for DHL, responsible for Government Relations for the group in the UK, and CSR and Environmental Management for DHL Express UK. Sharon has been involved in public affairs for eighteen years with experience of working for an MP, as well as public affairs consultancy and latterly as an 'in-house' practitioner with DHL. A Corporate Fellow of the IPT, Sharon has been involved with the IPT for a number of years and is keen to contribute to its success even further. George Graham
George Graham is head of strategy development at the Royal Bank of Scotland, working with a small team to analyse and explore options and opportunities for the group. Before joining RBS in 2004, George was banking editor of the Financial Times and then headed that newspaper’s Lex column, delivering pointed and often acerbic commentary on business and financial markets. During 20 years as a journalist at the FT, he also served as the newspaper’s correspondent in Paris, covering the first “cohabitation” government under President François Mitterrand, and in Washington, where he covered the 1992 presidential election and followed President Bill Clinton on visits to GermanyPolandLatvia and Italy. He was, in addition, the FT’s fishing columnist. Andrew Longden
Andrew Longden is Executive Vice President - Treasury and Corporate Finance for Royal Dutch Shell plc. In November 2003 Andy joined Shell as its Group Treasurer, with overall responsibility for treasury, risk management, M&A and pensions management for the Shell group worldwide. He was a member of the working group that was responsible for devising and executing the merger of Shell Transport and Royal Dutch. Andy is also a Trustee of the Shell UK Pension Scheme. Ian Pellow
Ian Pellow is Chairman and CEO of Throgmorton. During his career Ian has gained broad financial and general management experience in international banking and financial services in both UK listed plcs and US investment banks. Ian has held senior positions in the corporate functions of multi-nationals and global investment banks including British Telecom, Salomon Brothers, Bankers Trust and Deutsche Bank in London Lesley Perry
Lesley Perry is the Director of External Relations and Communications for Universities UK. Mike Snell
Mike Snell is General Manager – External Affairs at Waste Recycling Group Ltd, with responsibility for the Group’s public affairs, media and community relations programmes. Mike has been associated with the work of the IPT for more than 20 years, having been responsible for four Parliamentary fellowship programmes at three different companies during that time. He is a Director of Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd (WREN), an independent distributive environmental body that funds community and environmental projects under the Landfill Communities Fund to the tune of some £10 million a year. Mike is also a member of the Programme Advisory Board of Cranfield University's Integrated Waste Management post graduate MSc course. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
